Babao Sauce
The Babao Sauce, also called soybean sauce, is one of Linyi’s specialties that enjoys a history of over 130 years. It is listed in the Compendium of Materia Medica of Ming Dynasty. Nutritional and tasty, it has become a delicacy famous both home and abroad. The process to make Babao Sauce is quite strict: people only select big black soybeans as its ingredient and eggplant, fresh pepper, basil leaves, almond rice, fresh ginger, sesame oil, white liquor and so on as its accessories, and it has to take 160 days for the end product to be finished. Babao Sauce has won many prizes and it is renowned as “famous delicacy of Shandong” and “famous delicacy of China.”
