Trotting horse lanterns made in Linyi’s village for coming festival

Photo taken on January 5 shows people make trotting horse lanterns to decorate the coming Spring Festival at a small village in Gangshang Town, Tancheng County, Linyi City, east China’s Shandong Province. According to local resident and lantern maker Wang Shaozhong, there is a mini power-driven machine inside and the lampshade decorated with horse patterns will trot when it is energized, making it trotting horse lantern. For the sake of beauty and variety, patterns stuck on lampshades go far beyond horses in recent years. Characters from Chinese classical literature such as A Journey to the West and Three Kingdoms and twelve animals of the Chinese Horoscope are available on the lampshades of trotting horse lanterns now.
