Shandong's achievements in growth drivers shift impress consular officials

The activity of foreign institutions in China "Experiencing New Shandong" kicked off in east China's Shandong province. The event was hosted by Foreign Affairs Office of Shandong Provincial People's Government and jointly organized by foreign affairs offices of Weihai and Weifang.

In three days, the Consul General of South Korea, Japan and Thailand in Qingdao as well as business representatives from the three countries paid a visit to Weihai and Weifang to have a close look at the achievements Shandong has made in growth drivers transformation and the new advantages of Shandong' social and economic development.

The delegation of consul generals and business representatives paid a field visit to well-known enterprises and industrial parks including Dishang Group, Wego Group, Weichai Group and Shengrui Transmission Corporation Limited, where they got a comprehensive understanding of the social and economic development in Weihai and Weifang as well as Shandong's open economy. Delegation members were deeply impressed by the high intelligence of traditional manufacturing enterprises in Shandong.

"We have seen the fruitful results Shandong has realized in growth drivers shift," said Wang Yujun, Consul General of Thailand in Qingdao, "Shandong's policy to promote the transformation of growth drivers is in line with policies proposed by Thailand on implementing modern technology, building smart cities, and using clean and environmental-friendly energy, especially the investment project in the eastern economic corridor of Thailand." She believed there are plenty of chances for cooperation between Shandong and Thailand.

Park Jin Woong, Consul General of South Korea in Qingdao, said he got a further understanding of the investment environment of Weihai and Weifang during the activity. He paid close attention to the fields of biology, medical treatment and health and hoped to strengthen the cooperation and exchanges in these fields between Shandong and South Korea.

Matumura Yosiko, director of Qingdao Office of Japan External Trade Organization thought the event was meaningful and created a platform for parallel exchanges among Japan, South Korea and Thailand.
