Shandong quickens pace of 5G network development

Shandong spearheaded the development of digital economy in the whole country, news from the provincial press conference on Feb. 27, 2019. By 2022, the proportion of digital economy in the GDP shall rise to 45 percent from 35 percent.

According to the Digital Shandong Development Plan published in December last year, Shandong will take various measures to promote the digital transformation and development in sectors of economy and society.

The plan put forward that Shandong should form a digital Shandong development pattern with leading digital economic strengths, digital management and innovative service model by 2022 and build a digital economic system matching the modern powerful province for the new era by 2035.

In the future, Shandong will lay the emphasis on five major tasks, said Ma Yunan, director general of Shandong Big Data Bureau.

In terms of the shoring of foundation, Shandong will step up the pace of the allocation of 5G network, build provincial big data center, and construct international information and communication bridgehead. By 2022, Shandong will ensure that 5G network covers key urban areas at or above the country level and all networks, applications and terminals can using IPv6-based network.

In terms of digital economy, efforts will be stepped up to build Shandong into a benchmark of intelligent manufacturing and a pilot area of service industry and agricultural digitalization.

In regard to digital governance, Shandong has been committed to building effective and coordinated digital government so as to build an integrated government affairs platform, build a high-level provincial data hall, construct “Love Shandong” and “Shandong Hand” government affairs brands, and deepen the “Internet+” government affairs service.

With respect to digital service, Shandong will innovate and develop digital service and strive to build the service system that benefits people through information in areas of social security, education, culture, health care and endowment insurance, poverty alleviation and social assistance.
