China Calligraphy City

 Calligraphy Sage Pavilion

 As the hometown of great calligraphers Wang Xizhi (known as the Calligraphy Sage) and Yan Zhenqing of Tang Dynasty, the art of calligraphy in Linyi dates back to a long time ago and has been a widely accepted and practiced entertainment for the local people. At present, 50 of the members of China Calligraphy Association, 160 of Shandong Calligraphy Association and more than 600 of the Linyi Calligraphy Association are from Linyi. In July, 2006, Linyi was granted the honorary title of “China Calligraphy City”, the first one to have won such an honor in Shandong Province.
