Authorized strength of Linyi as county-level city is revoked in December, 1994, whereby a grand new prefecture-level city is set up with name of Linyi City. Since then, Linyi consists of 3 districts and 9 counties: Lanshan District, Luozhuang District, Hedong District, Tancheng County, Cangshan , Junan County, Yishui County, Yinan County, Pingyi County, Feixian County, Mengyin County, Linshu County.
