16th Linyi Calligrapher Sage Culture Festival closed with success

Linyi, Oct. 10 (Linyi China) –The 16th Linyi Calligrapher Sage Culture Festival closed in Linyi City, east China’s Shandong Province on October 7. Reporter learned from closing ceremony of the cultural festival held on October 8 that ninety-three activities were held during the 35-day event, attracting over 300,000 visiting guests and local citizens, making the grand event a cultural festival “of the people and for the people”.

To commemorate the 1715th birthday of China’s most notable calligrapher sage Wang Xizhi, 16th Calligrapher Sage Culture Festival of Linyi opened on September 3 with huge numbers of visiting guests and local residents witnessed the grand opening ceremony at Linyi International Expo Center. In accordance with the theme "Hometown of Wang Xizhi, Cultured Yimeng (another name of Linyi)" , series of activities will be organized at Linyi’s cultural facilities and sites including Linyi Art Museum, Former Residence of Wang Xizhi, Linyi Cultural Center, Linyi Museum, Linyi Cultural Pavilion, Hongru Art Gallery, Furuide Art Gallery and so on. According to organization committee, totally ninety-three activities were held during the 35-day remarkable event.

The 16th Calligrapher Sage Culture Festival of Linyi is sponsored by Publicity Department of Shandong Provincial Party Committee, Shandong Provincial Department of Culture, Shandong Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Linyi Municipal Party Committee and Linyi Municipal People’s Government. In addition, this mega event is jointly organized by Publicity Department of Linyi Municipal Party Committee, Linyi Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, TV, Film, Press and Publication, Linyi Municipal Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Linyi Radio and Television, Linyi Daily Press, Linyi Municipal Committee of Chinese Communist Youth League, Linyi Municipal Bureau of Education, Linyi Municipal Commission of Tourism Development, People’s Government of Lanshan District and Hongru Group.

As the hometown of calligrapher sage Wang Xizhi, Linyi has annually held the Calligrapher Sage Culture Festival of Linyi in the previous fifteen years. Since the first cultural festival was held in 2003, Linyi has been working to build up its cultural brand characterized by Hometown of Calligrapher Sage and China Calligraphy City.
