Huang Heng, a scholar in Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD24), rose to prime minister (in ancient China), is famous for being industrious in his study.
Chinese idom Zao Bi Tou Guang was originated from the story of Kuang Heng: when Kuang was young his family was too poor to afford him candles or lanterns for reading during the nights, so he bored a hole in the wall to get some light from a neighbor’s home.
