Chinese farmers' harvest festival: When, why and how?

As day and night equalize today for what the Chinese call the Autumn Equinox, China celebrates its eighth farmers' harvest festival. 

With less than 9 percent of the world's arable land, China feeds nearly 20 percent of the global population -- thanks to its strong focus on rural issues.
