Linyi hosts group wedding to revive traditional Chinese marriage customs

The 2026 Linyi collective wedding ceremony unfolded at Wuzhouhu  Square on Sept 28. Altogether 60 couples walked hand‑in‑hand into marriage at the public event. The activity advocates frugal wedding arrangements and promotes the transformation of outdated social customs.

Held under the theme Celebrating the Nation, Filling Yimeng with Love, the ceremony practises new‑style civilized wedding rituals. It discourages extravagant banquets and exorbitant betrothal gifts, encouraging young people to pursue sincere affection rather than ostentatious wedding ceremonies. The public collective‑wedding activity has become a vivid practice for advancing custom reform across Linyi.
