Linyi Two Sessions | Sixth Session of the 20th Linyi Municipal People's Congress kicks off

The Sixth Session of the 20th Linyi Municipal People's Congress opened on January 19, with Mayor Yu Shengtao delivering the Government Work Report on behalf of the municipal government. The report comprehensively reviewed the achievements in high-quality economic and social development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period and outlined the major goals, tasks for the 15th Five-Year Plan period and key initiatives for 2026.

According to the report, In 2025, the government promoted high-standard opening-up by privileging the internationalization and digitalization of Linyi Trade City (LTC), with the high-quality development of LTC elevated to a provincial-level strategy. This benchmark model of LTC has charted a new path for regional economic upgrading.

The report highlighted that a major task for Linyi during the 15th Five-Year Plan period is to implement projects enhancing scientific and technological innovation, further advance the development of Digital Linyi, and accelerate the innovative application of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

For 2026, Linyi will intensify efforts to promote the AI Plus initiative, carry out projects fostering innovation in industrial internet, and deepen the digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises. Efforts will also focus on strengthening foundational support for AI application and innovation, establishing and utilizing a public AI service platform, nurturing three large-scale AI models, and aiming to increase computing power by over 50%.

The year 2026 marks the beginning of the 15th Five-Year Plan period. Linyi will focus on its tasks of building a provincial sub-center city and advancing towards a trillion-yuan economy. To ensure a solid start to the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the city will prioritize the No. 1 Project of industrial economic development, cultivate signature industrial chains, steadfastly promote the internationalization and digital transformation of LTC, further develop and strengthen the private sector, and make breakthroughs in scientific and technological innovation.
