
During the May Day holiday, 200 key monitored scenic spots in Shandong province received a total of 26.154 million visitor arrivals, with tourism revenue hitting 1.27 billion yuan, up 5.3% and 4.0% year-on-year respectively. The province’s public cultural venues served 4.4727 million person-times, an increase of 9.51% year-on-year.

This year marks the first year for Shandong to launch the spring vacation for primary and secondary schools. The overlapping of the spring vacation and the May Day holiday created an extended break, further fueling cultural and tourism consumption.
Less mainstream county-level destinations gained growing popularity. A two-way travel trend has become prominent: urban tourists head to countryside getaways, while rural residents visit urban areas for leisure.
