Dragon boat race carries forward Duanwu folk traditions along Yi River

The 2026 Linyi Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament opened at Fengfan Square on Binhe West Road, Lanshan District on June 19. Ten teams with over 200 participants took part in river races to mark the Dragon Boat Festival.

The aquatic event revives ancient customs of honoring patriotic poets via dragon boat competitions. Citizens lined riverbanks to cheer competitors, forming a strong festive vibe. The activity combines mass fitness with intangible cultural heritage and engages participants of all ages.

Linyi will organize more festival-themed mass sports events, inherit time-honored Duanwu customs and enrich residents’holiday leisure options.
