6th shandong senior sports games opens at linyi olympic sports center

Shandong lacked a large-scale, high-standard exclusive sports platform for elderly groups before this provincial comprehensive event. It could not fully satisfy senior citizens’demands for fitness communication and mass sports participation.

On june 26, the 6th shandong senior sports games, the province's largest and highest-level comprehensive sports gala for seniors, held its opening ceremony at linyi olympic sports center. The games set 14 major categories and 83 minor events including gateball, table tennis, tai chi, soft volleyball and square dance, gathering elderly athletes from 11 prefecture-level cities. Wonderful opening performances fully interpreted the concept of active aging, and the park provided complete venue, volunteer, medical and security supporting services.

Linyi will continue undertaking high-level provincial senior sports competitions, upgrade urban fitness venues suitable for the elderly, launch diversified mass sports activities and continuously improve the city's senior public fitness service system.
