Lulu industrial chain integrates three sectors in Lucheng town, Lanling

Lu Town in Lanling County builds integrated primary, secondary and tertiary industries centered on calabash planting, processing and cultural tourism to boost rural shared prosperity.

Over 1,000 mu of calabash planting bases have been built across 15 villages under the Fulu Huba Lake Rural Revitalization Zone project. A total of 324 farming households engage in calabash cultivation, with over 680 industry practitioners.

The town develops a complete industrial chain covering standardized planting, pyrography carving, cultural and creative processing, rural e-commerce and lake-side tourism. High-quality handcrafted calabash ornaments can sell for as high as 1,500 yuan apiece, with annual industrial transaction volume exceeding 30 million yuan.

A cultural creative workshop cluster introduces folk intangible heritage crafts including pyrograph, paper-cut and carving. Tourist routes linking calabash gardens and cultural exhibition halls attract 500,000 visitors annually.

Adopting the model of state-owned enterprises, village collective companies, cooperatives and individual farmers, the industry drives stable income growth for over 600 households and creates flexible local jobs for 2,500 villagers. The calabash industrial cluster has become a featured benchmark of integrated agriculture, culture and tourism in southern Shandong.
