The 26th Shandong Province Sports Games concludes successfully in Linyi

The 26th Shandong Province Sports Games reached its perfect conclusion on September 5 at Linyi Olympic Sports Park Gymnasium, bringing to an end the first provincial‑games hosted in Yimeng old revolutionary base area.

During the whole session, more than 13,000 athletes from 16 prefecture‑level cities of Shandong competed in 38 major categories and 1,081 minor events. The host Linyi delegation achieved a historic breakthrough with 121.5 gold medals.

The closing ceremony implemented the principle of “simple, safe and splendid”. Core agenda covered delegation admission, national anthem, award presentations, wonderful artistic performances, provincial‑games flag‑handover and announcement for the next‑session host cities. The Games flag was officially handed over to Dezhou and Liaocheng for the 27th Shandong Province Sports Games in 2030.

After the ceremony, competition venues of Linyi Olympic Sports Park and branch venues across counties and districts will gradually open to public mass‑fitness activities. The city will make full use of post‑Games resources to boost sports‑culture‑tourism integrated development.
