The 22nd Calligrapher Sage Culture Festival of Linyi opens on September 22,2026

The 22nd Calligrapher Sage Culture Festival of Linyi officially opened on September 22 at Wang Xizhi Former Residence, the core landmark of the Hometown of Calligrapher Sage Wang Xizhi. Running through October 21, the festival carries the theme “Hometown of the Calligrapher Sage · China Calligraphy City”.

The opening ceremony returned to Wang Xizhi Former Residence after a 15‑year interval, bringing the nationally influential cultural event back to its historic roots. The opening programme featured ritual performances, documentary screenings, guest addresses and the launch of cultural‑tourism exchange activities, creating an immersive atmosphere of Langya’s millennium‑old calligraphy heritage.

Representatives from renowned calligraphy cities across China attended the opening event. Linyi and other calligraphy cities jointly issued an initiative on cultural heritage exchange, resource sharing, talent cultivation and integrated cultural‑tourism development. The festival also launched the “Ten‑thousand Yangtze River Delta Tourists Visit the Hometown of the Calligrapher Sage” campaign, strengthening regional cultural and tourism ties.

Throughout the festival period, 23 events under three major sections will be held, including calligraphy and painting exhibitions, cultural‑tourism experience programmes and cultural consumption activities. All exhibitions will be open to citizens and tourists free of charge.

As the Hometown of Calligrapher Sage Wang Xizhi and a China Calligraphy City, Linyi takes the festival as an important platform to carry forward Chinese calligraphy heritage, enhance urban cultural influence and promote people‑oriented cultural benefits.
