Winter wheat sowing underway in Daxing town as Cold Dew arrives

Villagers in Shanxitou village, Daxing town, Linshu county, Linyi in East China's Shandong province, were using combined rotary tillage, seeding and compacting machines to sow winter wheat on Oct 8, as soil moisture conditions were favorable.

The day marked the Cold Dew solar term. An old farming saying holds that sowing wheat around this period is ideal — too early at the Autumn Equinox and too late at Frost's Descent. With moisture levels currently suitable, villagers seized the window to press ahead with planting, filling the fields with activity.

The combined machines raised sowing efficiency while ensuring quality, laying a solid foundation for a good wheat harvest next year.
