Farmers transplant onion seedlings ahead of Start of Winter in Yihe New Area

Growers in Baishabu town, Yihe New Area of Linyi, East China's Shandong province, were busy tending, mulching and transplanting onion seedlings on the morning of Nov 4.

With the Start of Winter, or lidong, approaching, the town is carrying out onion planting in an orderly manner. Plastic film mulching keeps the seedlings warm and preserves moisture, laying the groundwork for next year's vegetable harvest and higher incomes for farmers.
