Known as China's Canning Capital, Pingyi County fosters a billion-yuan fruit canning industrial cluster through integrated development of innovation, industry, supply and value chains, focusing on yellow peach processing as its core competitive sector.

Pingyi produces over 30 percent of China's total fruit canned goods, with 62 specialized canning enterprises mainly processing Wutai yellow peach, a nationally recognized geographical indication agricultural product. The county built the China Canning Food Industry Research Institute with 4 million yuan investment, cooperating with the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences to tackle core fresh-locking and food safety technologies.

Digital intelligent transformation is promoted across leading factories such as Qiwei Food. Fully automatic unmanned production lines raise efficiency by 32 percent and cut frontline labor demand by 60 percent, with annual output value hitting 300 million yuan per enterprise. The institute introduces over 120 high-end technical experts via flexible talent introduction to resolve over six common industrial technical bottlenecks.

The complete industrial chain covers fruit planting, deep processing, packaging, e-commerce sales and waste recycling. Beyond traditional canned peaches, enterprises develop pre-made dishes, functional snacks and high-end gift food to lift product added value. E-commerce channels break seasonal sales limits, with online canned fruit sales exceeding 800 million yuan annually.

The four-chain integrated development model drives stable local employment and steady income growth for fruit farmers, forming a distinctive pillar industry that supports Pingyi’s county-level high-quality economic development.
