Zhai Shanqian village boosts collective income through juicy peach industry

Zhai Shanqian Village in Lucheng Town, Lanling County has blazed a shared prosperity path centered on juicy peach planting led by village Party branch cooperatives.The village has nearly 30 years of peach cultivation history, with a planting area of over 1,600 mu covering more than ten high-quality peach varieties. Backed by spring water from Wolong Spring, the peaches feature superior taste yet faced low selling prices due to scattered individual planting years ago.

In July 2022, the village Party committee set up Houlongwan Fruit Planting Cooperative, encouraging Party members to take the lead in land shareholding. Over 500 mu of scattered farmland was integrated within two months, forming standardized planting bases. The cooperative adopted an integrated model: Party branch coordinates land transfer, agricultural experts provide regular technical guidance, the base unifies management and picking, and a village-level wholesale market connects growers directly to buyers from Zaozhuang and Jiangsu.

The "Qiutong Peach" variety obtained national green food certification, raising sales prices by 2 yuan per kilogram. Currently, all 132 village households have joined the cooperative. The cooperative’s annual output value exceeds 8 million yuan, bringing an average income increase of over 10,000 yuan per mu for growers. The village collective gains an extra 60,000 yuan each year via base management and market leasing.

With increased collective revenue, the village renovated rural dirt roads into asphalt lanes and built public cultural squares. Up to 24 Party branch-led cooperatives have been established across Lucheng Town, covering fruits, seedlings and aquatic products, generating a total collective income growth of 1.586 million yuan in 2025.
