AI plus fuels industrial upgrading across Linyi’s key manufacturing chains
Artificial intelligence has become a core growth engine driving industrial transformation in Linyi, as the city rolls out a full set of "AI Plus" policies to empower 13 landmark industrial chains with digital technologies.
Workshops of Lunan Pharmaceutical New Era Pharmaceutical Division showcase radical shifts brought by intelligent equipment. Over ten AGV robots and robotic arms handle raw material transport automatically. Tasks that once required 13 workers to move 11 tons of goods now take merely 10 minutes via coordinated intelligent machinery.
AI technologies run through the firm's whole industrial layout. An intelligent equipment maintenance system cuts fault response time by 40 percent. Its AI-aided drug discovery platform shortens new medicine R&D cycles by over 30 percent and has been selected for a special MIIT research project. Digital live streaming and AI customer service slash inquiry waiting time from three minutes to 15 seconds and lift conversion rates by 25 percent. Liu Fangliang, director of the firm's IT center, noted the enterprise has built more than 100 AI application scenarios translating digital tools into tangible production gains.
Similar smart upgrades have taken root in grain and steel sectors. Yuhuang Grain Industry in Junan invested 460 million yuan on intelligent industrial parks and 112 million yuan on digital warehousing, forming a fully automated production chain and winning national industrial internet honors. Lingang Yongfeng Steel adopted integrated AI models to lower overall energy consumption by 30 percent and boost output efficiency. Jinsheng Grain built nine intelligent workshops and 23 automatic production lines with a unified digital monitoring platform.
Earlier this year, Linyi issued the city-wide "AI Plus" action plan focusing on eight major sectors including manufacturing and trade logistics. Up to 83 AI-enabled application projects have been planned, 18 of which are fully operational while another 17 are under construction. The city offers free computing power, algorithm support and technical counseling to over 30 small and medium manufacturers through special industrial service campaigns.
Linyi follows the development logic of leading enterprises driving chain-wide digital renovation, replicating low-cost, operable smart manufacturing models for upstream and downstream SMEs. The city aims to foster robust new quality productive forces and accelerate its drive toward a trillion-yuan regional GDP as a regional central city in Shandong.
