Linyi makes breakthrough in ITO target material amid computing‑metal industry boom

Linyi has achieved key technical progress in high‑density ITO target material manufacturing, seizing development opportunities brought by rising demand for so‑called “computing metals” driven by artificial intelligence growth.

As core transparent conductive base material, ITO target material is indispensable for display panels, integrated circuits, photovoltaic cells and smart dimming glass. For a long time, high‑end ITO target products in China heavily relied on imported supplies with high technical barriers in raw‑material purity, density and batch stability.

Xinlian Technology, a high‑tech enterprise specializing in zinc‑indium solid‑waste recycling and rare‑metal extraction, built a wholly‑owned high‑density ITO target production base in Linyi. After joint efforts of government departments and the enterprise, the first‑phase workshop successfully produced qualified ITO target samples in trial production. Test results show core indicators have reached top‑tier domestic industry standards. Upon full operation, the project can produce 200 tons of ITO target material annually with an expected annual output value exceeding 1 billion yuan.

Local government departments provided full‑cycle services for project landing. Special working groups coordinated plant construction, environmental assessment approval and infrastructure support. Linyi City Investment Group further invested 400 million yuan together with Xinlian Technology for high‑purity indium stockpiling to secure stable raw‑material supply for production lines.

The project fills an important gap in Linyi's new‑material industrial chain. It supports the 15th Five‑Year Plan goals for developing new‑energy, new‑display and advanced‑manufacturing sectors. Linyi will keep introducing high‑end sci‑tech projects, expand the new‑material industrial cluster and foster new quality productive forces.
