"Linyi's wood expo has every kind of product, and we come every year," said Li Xiaobo, a buyer from Sichuan, at the 15th Linyi Wood Industry Expo.

Beyond traditional panels, what drew Li's attention were new products and services including green new materials, smart manufacturing equipment and whole-home decoration solutions. As new quality productive forces are integrated into the industry, Linyi's wood sector is showing a trend toward high-end, green, innovative, integrated and systematic development. Last year, the Sichuan general agent of Li's company generated nearly 100 million yuan in business through the expo, and this year he hopes to find more partner manufacturers in Linyi.

As the core area of China's panel capital, Lanshan district has developed its wood industry for more than 30 years. From small household workshops to today's model built on technological innovation and industrial park clustering, the district is pushing the industry from scale advantages toward quality, technology and brand advantages.

The booth of Xingang Group drew crowds soon after the expo opened. Its technology section displayed more than 30 international environmental certifications and nine industry firsts. Among them is the group's biomimetic adhesive, the industry's first eco-friendly adhesive with zero formaldehyde, zero benzene and zero harmful additives, widely used in hospitals and schools. "The technology has now been iterated to version 3.0 and applied in the Guoxi Wenxin board and Guoxi Jijing board shown here, building multiple lines of defense for home health," said Wei Xiaoxin, chairman of Xingang Group.

Over 34 years, Xingang has stayed focused on the wood industry and sold panels to more than 100 countries and regions. Its key technology research and industrialization project for biomimetic eco-friendly panels won first prize in the Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Awards, the first time a panel company led such an award in China.

Other brands including Kronospan and Fugang Wood also appeared at the expo. Kronospan has located its operations headquarters in Lanshan district and held a new product launch at the event, presenting a new generation of high-end decorative panels and cutting-edge spatial surfacing solutions. Fugang Wood brought an upgraded series of solid rubberwood boards.

Wood processing is a traditional strength of Lanshan district, which now has 472 industrial enterprises above designated size in the high-end panel and green smart home furnishing chain. In the past, scattered layouts and a fragmented chain were typical problems for the cluster. The district has built a wood industry upgrading zone covering 6,500 mu (about 433 hectares), focusing on smart wood manufacturing and fine-decorated home furnishing, to concentrate enterprises in the park and restructure the industrial layout.

Most projects in the park are now in the interior decoration stage and are expected to be delivered and put into production around the end of the year. "The park rejects the simple stacking of enterprises. It coordinates standard factories, public utilities, sci-tech platforms and logistics systems, guides enterprises in digital transformation and smart production line upgrades, and connects the full chain of panel production, surface processing and whole-home customization," said Li Xiuyu, Party secretary of Yitang town.

The district has also set up a dedicated task force for the high-end panel and green smart home furnishing chain, formulated an upgrading plan and compiled industry chain, layout and investment attraction maps, working to strengthen technological innovation, raise brand value and expand overseas markets, moving the industry from individual operation to chain-based clustering.
