Linyi in East China's Shandong province presented a special "AI plus manufacturing" exhibition area at the 2026 Artificial Intelligence Industry Conference, which opened in Jinan on Oct 14, focusing on AI-enabled food industry development.

The conference was jointly hosted by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, the provincial industry and information technology department and the Jinan municipal government, with a main forum, sub-forums and supporting activities covering AI self-innovation, application-driven development, ecosystem coordination and security.

Linyi's exhibition area presented the city's "AI plus food" work across computing power supply, model platforms, application scenarios and operating mechanisms, highlighting the construction of an AI capability center for the food industry and a service ecosystem driven by both inclusive and customized approaches. Nine companies including the Linyi Data Group and Yuhuang Grain and Oil exhibited, showing how AI is empowering the transformation of traditional industries.

Since winning a provincial "AI plus manufacturing" pioneering application bid in June, Linyi has held planning and progress meetings and established a government-enterprise-association mechanism of three task forces, three associations and 10 service providers. Focusing on healthy meat products, premium grain and oil, and green fruit and vegetable processing, the city has implemented five projects in scenario deepening, product foundation, carrier concentration, enterprise upgrading and ecosystem building.

The city has developed a new model it calls "red Yimeng spirit plus green food industry plus blue digital intelligence," held six special training sessions covering 2,000 participants online and offline, and built one industry brain, one AI capability center, three large models, four AI agents, two new types of hardware and one industry dataset. Seven scenarios and four large models were selected in the province's first batch of key "AI plus manufacturing" application scenarios and promoted large models, ranking fourth in the province, while 66 scenario projects were selected in the province's first batch of pioneering application key projects, ranking fifth.

The city's industry and information technology bureau said it will continue advancing the provincial pioneering application program, amplifying the AI demonstration effect in the food industry and tapping more high-value scenarios across the city's 13 signature industry chains.
