Hawthorn harvest brings seasonal buyers to Liangqiu town in Feixian county

Hawthorn orchards on Laohu Hill in Liangqiu town, Feixian county, Linyi, East China's Shandong province, have entered harvest season, with buyers from Shandong, Hebei and Jiangsu arriving to purchase the fruit.

The town's Dajinxing variety, prized for its round shape, bright color and balanced sweetness, is purchased at about 0.8 yuan ($0.11) per jin (500 grams) at the farm gate and sells for more than 1 yuan in southern markets after transport.

The town has built its hawthorn industry on long cultivation tradition and natural conditions, and the fruit links orchard production with market distribution across picking, purchasing and transport.
