Linyi's culture and tourism market saw new momentum during the May Day holiday, driven by short-distance trips, self-driving tours, county-level tourism, and enhanced services, which attracted both local residents and visitors from across China.

As holiday travel habits evolve, short micro-vacations have become a significant trend. From May 3 to 4, the Muse Music Festival took place at Jiaolong Aviation Theme Park in Linshu county, featuring well-known singers like Angela Chang (Zhang Shaohan) and Julia Peng. The event offered local residents a quality cultural experience close to home while drawing music fans from other regions.

Suburban camping was also popular. Along the banks of the Yihe River, tents and canopies filled open spaces, with free parking, free access, and no admission fees.

Museums remained a highlight, with the Linyi Museum, the Museum of Bamboo Slips from Yinqueshan Han Dynasty Tomb, and Linyi Confucius Temple receiving more than 70,000 visits during the five-day holiday, according to museum staff. Teenagers made up about 40 percent of the visitors.

Friendly services further strengthened Linyi's tourism appeal. In Yinan county, major scenic areas received 400,000 visits and generated 36 million yuan ($5.29 million) in revenue. Tourists from outside Shandong accounted for 36 percent, and overnight visitors made up 42 percent, both record highs for the same period.

On May 3, when strong winds disrupted a camping trip by visitors from Henan province at the Red Sister Hometown Tourist Area, the scenic area assisted by setting up tents indoors and provided hot water, restrooms, and safety support.

Before the holiday, Linyi launched travel guides, four self-driving routes, and offered consumption coupons through Meituan and Tongcheng, providing 20 percent discounts at more than 100 scenic areas, hotels, and homestays.
