G518 national highway reconstruction section opens to traffic, integrating Linyi's urban and suburban areas

The reconstruction project of G518 Riding-Dingzhou Highway, from the Linyi-Rizhao border to the interchange of Linyi East on Changchun-Shenzhen Expressway, was fully opened to traffic on June 30, a pilot project of the Transportation Power Shandong Demonstration Zone.

Stretching 53.986 km, the road is built to first-class highway standards with a designed speed of 80 km/h, passing through Lingang District, Junan County and Hedong District. The section from the Linyi-Rizhao border to Lijiacun adopts six two-way lanes, while the rest features eight two-way lanes. As a provincial demonstration project for national and provincial highway upgrading, it provides replicable experience for trunk road quality improvement across Shandong.

The completed project strengthens Linyi’s comprehensive transport hub functions, optimizes east-west trunk road networks in southern Shandong and builds a fast land-port connection channel linking coastal ports and inland hinterland, supporting Linyi Commercial City’s overseas trade. It shortens the travel time between Linyi urban area, Junan and Lingang to within one hour, facilitating regional integrated development, industrial upgrading and rural revitalization, and offering robust transport support for Linyi to build a provincial sub-center city and achieve trillion-yuan economic output.
