Shandong provincial para-cycling events kick off in Mengyin county

The road cycling competition of the 12th Shandong Provincial Games for Disabled Persons & 1st Special Olympics opened in Mengyin on July 11. A total of 141 athletes from 10 teams of 9 cities took part in the 7-day contest with around 80 gold medals up for grabs.

On the opening competition day, 21 events were held. Linyi Team One claimed 12 gold, 9 silver and 6 bronze medals while Linyi Team Two won 4 bronze medals. All athletes demonstrated perseverance, courage and optimistic life attitudes during fierce races.

The provincial high-level disabled sports event carries forward self-improvement spirit of athletes. It promotes equal mass sports for disabled groups and enriches inclusive sports culture across Shandong province.
