Ahead of the 2026 China Rural Civilization Conference to be held in Linyi, Zhang Wen, an overseas student from Morocco studying at Linyi University, visited Linshu County to learn time-honored willow weaving craftsmanship from local intangible cultural heritage masters. The cross-cultural exchange activity was jointly planned by Linyi International Communication Center and Shandong International Communication Center.
Linshu, known as the Capital of Willow Weaving Crafts recognized by the World Crafts Council, boasts a willow weaving industry chain worth 2.8 billion yuan, with products sold to more than 120 countries worldwide. The craft with a thousand-year history inherits traditional farming civilization while driving nearly 30,000 local villagers to increase household income. During the field experience, the foreign student mastered the classic "one-under-one-over" weaving skills, and recorded the charm of Chinese rural intangible heritage through short video works for overseas audiences.
The overseas youth experience program serves as a vivid cross-cultural communication carrier. It lets global audiences understand Yimeng's rural civilization and folk craftsmanship, and builds a soft cultural bridge for international exchanges before the opening of the national rural civilization conference.
