Yimeng small crape myrtle blooms into booming rural industry in Mengyin

Yimeng native small crape myrtle, a local ornamental and medicinal shrub, has developed into a thriving characteristic rural industry in Mengyin County thanks to standardized planting and unified brand operation.

Ma Yongqiu founded the Mengyin Yimeng Small Crape Myrtle Association in late 2024 to unify seedling standards, bulk purchasing and online live sales. The association built a 600-mu crape myrtle mountain base with over 60,000 saplings, driving more than 100 local growers to gain over one million yuan in collective extra income. Next plans include expanding planting bases, holding flower festivals and cooperating with universities to develop medicinal deep-processing products.

The whole industrial chain of crape myrtle integrates ecological landscaping, rural tourism and herbal processing. It turns scattered mountain saplings into a signature wealth-generating brand for Mengyin's rural vitalization.
