Local calligrapher exchanges arts at Embassy of the Republic of Liberia to promote Linyi overseas

Wu Yuqin, a renowned local calligrapher and painter from Linyi, was invited to the Embassy of the Republic of Liberia in Beijing on July 18 for cross-cultural communication activities, introducing Linyi's culture and industrial strengths to diplomatic officials from multiple African countries.

As a grassroots literary and art worker rooted in Linyi, Wu presented a calligraphy scroll inscribed with the classic line A bosom friend afar brings a distant land near as a cultural gift to Washington, a diplomat of the embassy. During the exchange, she elaborated on Linyi's profound cultural heritage dating back to Wang Xizhi, the Sage of Calligraphy, and the timeless Yimeng Spirit forged during revolutionary years. She also gave a full introduction to Linyi’s signature competitive sectors including modern logistics and manufacturing clusters centered on Linyi Trade City. The artist actively shared local enterprises’ willingness to explore African markets and seek multilateral trade cooperation, and offered to build stable communication channels between Linyi manufacturers and overseas diplomatic platforms. Wu stated that Chinese painting and calligraphy serve as a universal cross-border cultural language, capable of showcasing Linyi's profound cultural charm while opening more international business channels for local merchants.

The cultural exchange event uses fine arts as a soft communication carrier to bridge Linyi and African nations. It advances the city's overseas publicity layout arranged by the Publicity Department of the CPC Linyi Municipal Committee, combining cultural diplomacy with foreign trade expansion to tell authentic Linyi stories to global audiences.
