Yishui's crape myrtle industry boosts rural vitalization with long-cycle value

The small-leaved crape myrtle industry in Daotuo Town, Yishui County creates a unique "flower season economy" by relying on slow-growing native rare tree varieties, driving integrated agriculture and tourism development.

Yimeng small-leaved crape myrtle is an endemic local species with a 3-month blooming period from June to September. Mature high-quality trees take 15 to 20 years to cultivate and carry high market value, forming a counter-cyclical competitive edge amid oversupply of ordinary nursery stocks nationwide.

The 500-mu "Huahai Renjia" base adopts the "enterprise + base + farmer" model, providing free cuttings and technical training for villagers. It creates over 100 local jobs and raises village collective income by 150,000 yuan annually.

The town integrates crape myrtle sightseeing, research tours and seedling sales into a complete industrial chain, forming the colorful pastoral tourism brand "Joyful Daotuo". The rare tree variety turns long cultivation cycles into sustainable rural wealth growth.
