The first half of the 62-day 2026 summer travel rush has concluded with stable flight operations and surging passenger volume at Linyi Airport. Driven by parent-child study tours, summer sightseeing trips, student travel and business visits, the airport has optimized flight schedules and refined passenger services to uphold the "Flying Well in Shandong" service brand.
For tourism routes, a seasonal regular flight between Linyi and Ordos operates with a 1 hour 55-minute single trip to grassland resorts. Direct flights linking Linyi and Xining run every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, opening an air corridor to Qinghai Lake and Chaka Salt Lake. Coastal and mountain destinations including Zhoushan, Haikou, Sanya and Guilin maintain high load factors.
Main business routes run at frequent shuttle frequency. Linyi offers two daily flights to Shanghai covering Hongqiao and Pudong Airports, up to four daily flights to Guangzhou and two daily flights to Shenzhen, alongside stable services to Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing and Xi’an. The "Transfer via Linyi" program provides one-stop check-in and baggage through-transfer to strengthen Linyi's regional aviation hub capacity. International air routes also see steady growth in tourist and business passengers.
Family groups, unaccompanied minors and senior travelers make up the major passenger groups. The airport dynamically opens extra check-in counters and security lanes during rush hours, and launches full-process assistance for vulnerable passengers to shorten waiting time and improve travel experience.
To tackle frequent thunderstorms in summer, the airport coordinates air traffic control and airlines with joint emergency mechanisms, releasing real-time flight updates and implementing detailed contingency plans for delayed flights to safeguard passenger rights.
Passenger volume will remain high in the second half of summer travel, with a student return peak in mid-to-late August. The airport reminds travelers to arrive early and monitor flight changes in advance.
In the next phase, Linyi Airport will continue coordinating airlines to add flights, strengthen safety management and upgrade considerate services to boost local cultural tourism and support high-quality economic growth of Linyi.
