38th Yimeng Summer Book Fair draws nearly 90,000 readers

The 38th Yimeng Summer Book Fair opened on Linyi People’s Square, gathering over 500 publishing houses and more than 80,000 book varieties and attracting nearly 90,000 citizens since its launch.

The signature "Fill A Bag With Books For 99 Yuan" activity has become the most popular highlight, with over 10,000 citizens taking part each day and the highest record reaching 28 books in one bag. The fair extends business hours until nearly 10 p.m. to satisfy evening reading shoppers.

Organizers integrated multiple cultural events alongside book sales, including the Fourth Yihe Night Opera Show, Langya Night Lectures and free red film screenings. Handicraft workshops and reading salons are held on the fifth floor of Linyi Xinhua Bookstore.

Many residents choose to combine evening walks with book shopping, blending daily leisure with reading culture. Citizens praised the fair for its affordable prices and convenient experience, bringing literary atmosphere to summer night life in Linyi.
