Linyi UAV pilot competition boosts agriculture and rural vitalization

2026-08-13

Linyi's plant protection UAV skill competition successfully concluded, integrating skill contests with technical training to foster professional agricultural drone operators and fuel smart rural development.

The event set two major competition modules: theoretical written test and field practical operation. Theory items cover crop protection knowledge, UAV flight specifications and safety operation standards. Practical links include fixed-point spraying, obstacle avoidance and precise field mapping, fully simulating real farm working scenarios.

Over 60 professional pilots from towns and agricultural cooperatives took part in the tournament. Judges scored participants based on spraying uniformity, flight stability and operation accuracy, selecting outstanding technical pacesetters for local agricultural services.

Plant protection UAVs can complete 120 to 140 mu of farmland operations per hour, over 100 times more efficient than manual spraying, while cutting pesticide consumption by nearly 30 percent. The competition popularized intelligent agricultural equipment technology and built a talent reserve for Linyi's digital agriculture and low-altitude economy.

Organizers will carry out regular follow-up training sessions to spread UAV operation skills across villages and further empower modern rural vitalization.
