Linshu thrives with comprehensive sports event-driven development
As Linyi's representative “event-driven city”, Linshu County has realized comprehensive industrial and urban transformation by developing mass fitness and high-level sports events at the start of the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
Infrastructure construction forms solid foundations. The county has built a complete public sports network covering all villages and towns. Per capita sports venue area reaches 3.88 square meters, with fitness facilities available in all 236 administrative villages and 553 natural villages. A 40-kilometer riverside fitness corridor along Shu River and Cangyuan River connects dozens of courts and outdoor fitness zones, creating accessible outdoor sports spaces for all residents. Public fitness parlors, community sports parks and town-level activity centers enrich daily exercise options for locals.
High-standard event resources shape the county's signature brand. Linshu Stadium adopts Changlin Diamond cultural design and meets national competition standards. The county has hosted 26 international, national and provincial sports tournaments in recent years, including national martial arts championships and WCBA home games. Multiple judo, wrestling and canoeing matches of the 26th Shandong Provincial Games were held here. Over 300 sports activities are organized annually, attracting more than 100,000 participants and spectators.
Integrated development of sports with education, tourism and commerce fuels economic growth. School sports cooperation programs introduce professional coaches to 51 local primary and secondary schools, establishing youth training systems for football, basketball and other sports. A four-season event system featuring spring cycling, summer water sports, autumn cross-country races and winter ice activities drives consumption. In 2025, Linshu's sports industry output exceeded 2.31 billion yuan, accounting for 1.39 percent of regional GDP.
Linshu will continue upgrading sports facilities, polishing its event brand and promoting multi-industry integration to boost urban high-quality development.
