Linyi Institute of Technology welcomes its first cohort of undergraduate freshmen

Linyi Institute of Technology greeted its first group of undergraduate students as the 2026 autumn semester commenced. As Linyi's third full‑time undergraduate university, the institute marks an important milestone for higher‑education development in the old revolutionary Yimeng base.

Located in the science‑and‑education park of Yihe New Area, the institute was officially approved by the Ministry of Education in May 2026 and inaugurated in June 2026. It is a non‑profit private undergraduate institution focusing on new‑engineering disciplines, integrating engineering, economics, management and art subjects.

For its maiden undergraduate intake in 2026, the university enrolled 500 students across six undergraduate majors: intelligent manufacturing engineering, electronic‑information engineering, artificial intelligence, digital‑media technology, robotics engineering and big‑data management and application. All majors closely match local industrial chains of high‑end equipment, digital economy and cultural creativity in Linyi.

The campus phase‑one project covers 500 mu with a building area of 230,000 square meters. It is equipped with 34 experimental‑training laboratories, a large‑scale smart library, F5G full‑optical‑network smart‑campus infrastructure, student apartments and supporting dining facilities. The school has built 40 off‑campus internship bases in cooperation with 42 key local enterprises including Linyi Heavy Industry, Inspur and Gree Electric.

The institute positions itself to cultivate application‑oriented compound talents for regional industries. Its three‑year development target is to reach 5,000 full‑time undergraduates, with a long‑term planning size of 18,000 students. The arrival of first‑batch undergraduates kicks off a new chapter for the new‑engineering university in Linyi.
