The Tianwangcheng scenic area in Yishui county, Linyi, East China's Shandong province, has launched a program reimbursing expressway tolls for self-driving visitors, inviting travelers nationwide to explore the Ji Wang Gu peak and the county's history and landscapes.

The program runs from Oct 8 to Nov 30 and applies to non-commercial private cars with seven seats or fewer. Visitors who exit at seven designated expressway toll gates — Yishui, Yishui North, Yishui South, Zhuge, Gaozhuang, Xili and Zhangjiapo — and purchase same-day admission or combined tickets for the scenic area can be reimbursed for their one-way inbound toll with supporting documents, up to 80 yuan ($11) per vehicle.

The scenic area has also introduced themed activities, including a dining offer and free trials of Warring States period robes, allowing visitors to experience the culture of the ancient Ji state of the Spring and Autumn period while enjoying the autumn scenery on the peak.

Tianwangcheng is located on Ji Wang Gu in Quanzhuang, Yishui county, which is home to the Ji Wang Gu tomb complex, a key cultural relic site under national protection. Its archaeological resources and distinctive peak landform make it an important vehicle for cultural inheritance and integrated culture and tourism development in the county. In recent years, Yishui county has guided tourism enterprises to innovate services and roll out benefit programs, enriching cultural tourism offerings and telling the county's historical and cultural stories.

The toll rebate program is an attempt by the county's tourism market to innovate its marketing and better serve visitors. By lowering the threshold for travel, it aims to attract visitors from across the country, boost rural activity through cultural tourism and support regional economic development.

The county said it will continue to deepen cultural exploration and industrial integration, introduce more innovative and distinctive tourism benefit programs, and raise its visibility and reputation.
