Power company brings eye care services to school students

State Grid Linyi Power Supply Company, working with professional ophthalmologists, visited the "Power Love Classrooms" at Tancheng county No 5 Middle School and the No 2 Junior Middle School in Difang town, Pingyi county, in Linyi, East China's Shandong province, on Oct 8, ahead of World Sight Day.

Staff provided free vision screenings for students, checking eyesight and refractive status, recording the data and identifying problems such as myopia and astigmatism, with professional guidance on correction and daily protection based on individual conditions. They also taught students about eye care, covering correct reading and writing postures, limits on screen time, the sensible use of electronic devices, relieving eye fatigue and eye-friendly diet, correcting poor habits.

Power company staff also introduced safe electricity practices and emergency self-rescue methods for electric shocks through interactive Q&A and on-site demonstrations, drawing on campus and household scenarios. Eye care brochures were distributed to students for ongoing reference.

The activity combined professional screening, educational sessions and informational materials, improving students' awareness of eye protection and self-care, and raising their awareness of electrical safety.
