Lianhuashan community holds drum workshop for Chongyang Festival

The Lianhuashan community in Bianzhuang subdistrict, Lanling county, Linyi, East China's Shandong province, held a hand drum workshop at its activity center on Oct 13, with ten middle-aged and older women taking part ahead of the Chongyang Festival.

The instructor adapted the teaching to the learning characteristics of older participants, explaining basic rhythms and striking techniques, and led the group through demonstrations and small-group practice. Participants practiced attentively, following the upbeat rhythm and cooperating with one another, with drumbeats and laughter running through the session.

The community said it will continue to focus on the needs of women in its area, holding a wide range of cultural and sports activities on a regular basis to enrich the lives of older residents and carry forward the tradition of respecting and caring for the elderly.
