Linyi in East China's Shandong province recorded new highs in total visitor numbers and tourism revenue during the National Day holiday, placing it in the top tier of cities in the province and earning it a spot on Douyin's list of the top 10 autumn destinations for the Mid-Autumn and National Day holidays.

Key scenic areas led the way. Langya Ancient City ranked first on Douyin's national group-buying list for attractions, fourth on Qunar's national National Day attraction popularity list and among the top five on Fliggy's list of scenic areas with immersive character experiences. Other sites including Lishanjian, Zhuquan village, Zuidongfeng rural art inns, Linyi Zoo and Botanical Garden, the Red Sister Hometown and Yimeng Mountain Tianmeng launched new experiences and saw visitor numbers multiply or rise substantially.

The Yimeng Mountain area was a holiday hotspot. The Guimeng scenic area staged a red-themed live drama and hosted electric and folk music performances, while the Yunmeng scenic area launched an autumn season featuring forest elf meet-and-greets, folk music sessions and character parades. The Tianmeng scenic area offered harvest-themed performances and children's theater, with queues for its 198-meter bungee jump and high-altitude paragliding. Combined visits and revenue for the three areas rose sharply, with Tianmeng posting the fastest growth among mountain scenic areas in the province.

Mengtong Shengjing ran a series of events combining daytime folk parades, Yimeng opera and character treasure hunts with nighttime balcony concerts, beach music parties and fireworks, forming an all-day consumption model. The Red Sister Hometown scenic area unveiled the Phoenix Pavilion landmark and upgraded film-themed courtyards. Zhuquan village continued its harvest displays by day and opened a nighttime tour in the evening.

Visitors from outside the city rose further as a share of the total, exceeding the level of this year's May Day holiday. Growth was rapid among visitors from Qingdao and Jinan within the province, and steady from Jiangsu, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangdong and Henan outside it, with marked increases from Jiangsu, Henan and Zhejiang.

Overnight stays lengthened and per-capita spending rose year-on-year, with middle-aged and young visitors making up the majority. Star-rated hotels and boutique guesthouses ran at high occupancy, several at full capacity.

The performance economy drove the market. Li Ronghao's world tour concerts were held at the Linyi Olympic Sports Park stadium on Oct 5 and 6, drawing more than 80,000 fans over two days, more than half from out of town. Through a ticket stub alliance linking 34 scenic areas, hotels and guesthouses, concertgoers received free or half-price offers that boosted spending across catering, accommodation and attractions.

The Tangtou hot spring resort saw a peak in wellness visitors, while the 36th Yuantong National Day auto show brought together more than 60 car brands with discounts, trade-in offers and supporting entertainment. The Dongfang Jiayuan combat championship in Junan county gathered 40 professional fighters from across the country, and the Linyi anime and gaming expo drew more than 5,000 fans.

Media coverage was extensive. Langya Ancient City was featured on CCTV-13's Morning News, the Guimeng scenic area's live performance appeared on CCTV News, and the Chaxichuan tea plantation in Junan was shown on CCTV-1's National Day special program. A Douyin topic on National Day travel tips for Langya Ancient City reached sixth on the national trending list, and a topic on the concert ticket stub discounts surpassed 51 million views.

Nighttime offerings expanded. Langya Ancient City staged more than 800 performances a day, with its live horse show performed 40 times and another production 55 times. Shuiyun Langya continued its evening water show, and the Wang Xizhi Former Residence reached maximum capacity on two consecutive days before its immersive night tour issued visitor limits. All 42 public cultural venues in the city extended their opening hours.

The city rolled out benefits covering tickets, hot springs, night tours, performances and accommodation, including price cuts, package tickets and online presales, and Junan county introduced a single ticket valid across multiple attractions.

Linyi said it will consolidate the results of the 2026 conference on integrated cultural tourism and performance development, optimize performance offerings, accelerate the renewal of scenic areas toward immersive and interactive formats, extend the secondary consumption chain and strengthen the ticket stub economy alliance so that visitor flows translate into longer stays and spending.
