Machanghu town holds second amateur table tennis tournament

Machanghu town in Linyi High-tech Zone, Linyi, East China's Shandong province, held its second national fitness amateur table tennis tournament at Linyi Shengtao Senior High School on Oct 17, under the theme "carrying forward the Yimeng red spirit, driving a healthy future through table tennis."

Liu Zhiliang, Party secretary of the town, addressed the opening ceremony, encouraging athletes to carry forward the Yimeng spirit and the sporting spirit of tenacious effort. Referees' and athletes' representatives took oaths pledging to observe competition rules and ensure fair officiating and participation.

Hosted by the town government, the tournament drew 24 teams and about 110 table tennis enthusiasts from villages, enterprises, institutions and street-front shops across the town. Spectators cheered the players throughout.

The town said the event provided a platform for enthusiasts to sharpen their skills and make friends through the sport, enriching local cultural and sporting life. It will continue to hold diverse mass sports activities to advance national fitness and inject vitality into rural revitalization.
