Gao Huajuan, a painter from Linyi, East China's Shandong province, was invited to exhibit her works at a painting and calligraphy exhibition themed "Art Connects Through Calligraphy" held at the Venezuelan Embassy in China from Oct 12 to 28 — the longest such exhibition ever held at the embassy, lasting 16 days.

At the exhibition, Gao presented her freehand brushwork painting Great Luck, depicting ripe persimmons, a motif symbolizing the blessing that everything goes as one wishes. The work, with vivid brushstrokes and auspicious meaning, won praise from diplomats, and the organizer presented Gao with a certificate of honor as a "cultural exchange ambassador".

Gao comes from Linyi, a famous historical and cultural city and a national civilized city, where the heritage of the Yimeng revolutionary base nourishes her artistic inspiration. Specializing in freehand persimmon paintings, she embeds the simple wishes of Yimeng people into every stroke.

She said the exhibition was not only a practice of cultural transmission, but also a dialogue between civilizations that crosses language barriers, and she will continue to tell the stories of red Yimeng and spread the Yimeng Spirit through her brush.
