Forest camping injects new momentum into rural revitalization in Linshu

At Shawo village in Qingyun town, Linshu county, Linyi, East China's Shandong province, the Molin Rural Campsite, built on a vast chestnut forest, is exploring a path of integrating agriculture, culture and tourism to boost rural revitalization.

The campsite makes use of the natural space under the trees, with canopies and tents scattered on open lawns. It has planned diversified businesses including a study academy, tea house, handicraft workshop, children's playground and outdoor classroom, covering scenarios such as outdoor camping, team building, study tours and hands-on experiences.

Wood-fired food, tea around the stove and special rural drinks bring the flavor of everyday life into the woods, while indoor tea rooms and outdoor viewing spots offer scenery in all seasons.

Unlike simple check-in camping, the campsite embeds study programs into the natural setting, offering systematic courses such as bread making, nature exploration, farming science and teamwork, turning the chestnut forest into a mobile classroom. Targeting urban youth and parent-child families, it turns the village from a sightseeing destination into a life experience space with cultural texture and ecological warmth.

Industry experts said high-quality rural camping lies not in simply pitching tents, but in making the most of local ecological, agricultural and cultural resources — turning woodland resources into tourism products, extending the industry chain, creating nearby jobs and boosting sales of local farm products.

Zhang Lei, operations director of the rural operations department of Tiantian Xiangjian Group, said the campsite takes camping as the trigger point to connect the chains of ecology, agriculture, culture and leisure consumption, helping green mountains become a source of prosperity.
