Mengyin county of Linyi, Shandong province, with a rich history dating back to the Western Han Dynasty (206BC-24AD), spans 1,605 square kilometers and is home to a population of 580,000 people.
In recent years, the county has embraced a three-step ecological development strategy integrating ecological conservation and economic growth. This approach has transformed Mengyin into a national model for green development, earning it recognition as an innovative base for practicing the philosophy that "lucid waters and lush mountains are valuable assets" and a national demonstration county for promoting ecological civilization.
The county's landscape is predominantly mountainous, with 520 peaks, 178 rivers, and 103 reservoirs. Mengshan Mountain is the province's second-highest peak, and Yunmeng Lake the second-largest reservoir. With a forest coverage rate of 62.2 percent, Mengyin leads the province in ecological conservation. The county's efforts in ecological transformation have been showcased at international forums, and its ecological conservation planning, developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, is at the provincial forefront.

The county has developed a robust industrial base, including the manufacturing of specialized vehicles, construction machinery, and drilling rigs. It has developed a complete production chain from parts processing to finished product assembly. The specialized automobile industrial park has become the second-largest semi-trailer production base in the country. Its agricultural sector, known for peaches and honey, has gained national recognition.
Tourism thrives with attractions like Mount Meng and Yunmeng Lake, complemented by cultural experiences around Menglianggu. As a leader in e-commerce, Mengyin has been designated a National E-commerce Demonstration County.
