Pingyi county, located in the southern part of Shandong province, is known for its rich history of over 3,000 years. It is rapidly emerging as a key economic and cultural hub of Linyi city.

Recognized as the hometown of honeysuckle, stones, and canned food, Pingyi is part of the national key ecological function zone. It boasts numerous accolades, including being a model county for livability and work, a national sanitation county, and a provincial-level tourism demonstration zone.

The county's strategic location and comprehensive transportation network make it highly accessible, enhancing its appeal as a tourist destination. Notable attractions include the 5A-rated Mengshan Scenic Area and the 4A-rated Tianyu Natural Museum. Recent initiatives focus on enhancing its tourism sector, with projects like Mengtong Town and boutique museum clusters currently underway.

The county is vibrant and economically thriving. It has established a modern industrial system, including traditional industries like honeysuckle-based medicine, canned foods, and textile gloves, with leading sectors in wood processing, equipment manufacturing, and building materials.

Additionally, it features emerging industries such as new energy, new materials, health and wellness tourism, and e-commerce.

In the equipment manufacturing industry, agricultural machinery holds over 60 percent of the national market share. The sector includes key enterprises such as Weichai Lovol Intelligent Agricultural Technology.

In the honeysuckle-based medicine industry, the cultivation area for honeysuckle accounts for 60 percent of the national production and 80 percent of the national trade volume.
