Tancheng county, located at the southernmost tip of Shandong province in East China, is a vibrant region known as the "Hometown of Ginkgo" and the "Hometown of Osiers". Tancheng has a population of 1.04 million registered residents and 860,000 permanent residents, covering an area of 1,195 square kilometers. It is known as a leading national county for cultural development and grain production, as well as a national sanitary and garden county.

Historically rich, Tancheng traces its roots back to the Xia (c.21st century-16th century BC) and Shang (c.16th century-11th century BC) dynasties. The county is the birthplace of Tanzi, a revered figure in Chinese history. It also inspired Guan Hanqing, a leading dramatist of the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), in writing the famous opera The Injustice to Dou E.

Tancheng's strategic location offers excellent connectivity, as major highways and railways pass through the county. It is well connected to nearby ports and high-speed railway stations, giving it unique logistical advantages with transportation costs 20 percent below the national average.

Economically, Tancheng is a powerhouse. It is known as a granary in southern Shandong, consistently producing over 700,000 metric tons of grain annually. It is also a major producer of ginkgo, with 7,400 hectares of forests, as well as crops like rice and vegetables.

The county has developed a robust modern industrial system focusing on green chemicals, electronics, agriculture, and more, making it a key industrial hub in the region.
