Hedong district in Linyi, Shandong province, is renowned for its hot springs, hardware trade, and dehydrated vegetable processing. With an area of 834 square kilometers and a population of 908,000, the district is home to a rich history and culture.
The Phoenix Ridge site, dating back 10,000 years, is the first microlithic site discovered in Shandong. The eggshell pottery unearthed at Dafan village represents the pinnacle of ancient Chinese pottery craftsmanship. The district is a major revolutionary site, with past Chinese leaders like Chen Yi and Su Yu once having lived and fought here.
Due to its location between the Yi and Shu rivers, Hedong is home to thriving ecosystems, with 28 rivers crisscrossing the region. It features two national wetland parks and is a pilot city for national water ecological civilization. The district is also a leader in rice cultivation north of the Yangtze River.

Hedong is also a model of livability and industrial growth. It hosts nine national-level tourist attractions and numerous healthcare facilities, which leverage its natural hot springs. The district is a hub for education as well, with many prestigious schools established here.
Its strategic location offers robust transportation links, including the Linyi Qiyang International Airport and Linyi East Railway Station.
Hedong is home to thriving industry, with a strong focus on modern industries like new energy and medical devices. It houses over 90,000 market entities and several major enterprises. The district's commitment to innovation and openness has made it a key player in Shandong's economy.
