Calligraphy exhibition connects Macao, Linyi through shared cultural heritage

A cross-regional calligraphy exhibition opened at the Linyi Art Museum on Sept 3, showcasing 100 works by calligraphers in Macao and Shandong's Linyi. The event serves as a vital platform for artistic exchange and cultural dialogue between the two regions.

During the opening ceremony, representatives from the Macao Chinese Calligraphers Association delivered speeches and donated artworks to the Linyi calligraphers association and the Linyi Art Museum. Officials expressed appreciation for the exhibition as a practice of cultural diplomacy, emphasizing its role in strengthening bonds between the two sides.

The exhibition provides a rare opportunity for Macao's calligraphers to visit Linyi, a city renowned for its profound connection to Wang Xizhi, the Eastern Jin (317-420) calligrapher known as the Sage of Calligraphy, and showcase their works. The joint display of 100 works not only demonstrates the artists' technical mastery but also reflects the shared cultural pride and artistic resonance between the two regions.

Organizers hope the exhibition will serve as a starting point for deeper collaboration across multiple fields, including literary creation, cultural heritage research, and public cultural services, further reinforcing cultural exchanges between Macao and Linyi.
